Born in Tallahassee, Florida and during a 32 year stopover in Atlanta, Sammy Boykin visited New York in winter 2005. The moment he stepped out of Penn Station and onto 8th Avenue, it was intense love at first sight. Making New York his vacation spot twice a year, he started using disposable cameras to help him remember what he was seeing. After a few of those photographs turned out pretty good, he purchased his first camera- a six megapixel Nikon point-and-shoot. After years of practice and many upgrades in cameras and after many vacations spent in New York, he finally decided to make a permanent move to New York. Sammy currently resides on Staten Island and frequently ventures into “The City” where he has collected thousands of images that detail just what caused him to fall madly in love with New York City in the first place.
